Clive Christian 1872: one house, two centuries, one citrus-woody pair

The year

1872 is the year the Crown Perfumery was established in London — the archive Clive Christian would later acquire. The pair shares the name, the crown cap and a Victorian sense of occasion.

1872 Masculine

A sparkling citrus-woody composition: bergamot and blue pepper over clary sage and jasmine, with a base of cedar and musk. It is the brightest fragrance in the Clive Christian line — formal, but with daylight in it.

1872 Feminine

The feminine edition keeps the citrus spine and adds a floral-ambery body: rose, jasmine and patchouli over sandalwood. Same era, softer tailoring.

Wearing them together

Couples often buy the pair deliberately — shared codes, distinct voices. They layer surprisingly well too; the masculine’s citrus lifts the feminine’s rose.
